Hey everyone! It's been a while, and I apologize. I've been pretty busy with the end of the school year coming up, studying for finals and whatnot. Anyway, I got a comment asking about my dance schedule, so here it is.
Monday: Class from 5:30-7pm at the academy
Tuesday: Class from 8:30-9:30 pm at the teen studio
Wednesday: Class from 4-5:30 pm at the academy
and soon
Saturday: Jr. Company class from 9-10:30 am
So, that means I have decided to do the company! With the company, I'll be doing an SI at the academy I dance at. I'm keeping the name private, just for safety reasons, but it isn't a well known pre-professional academy. Unless you live within an hour or two of it, you've probably never heard of it. The intensive is three weeks long in July, 5 days a week, from 10 am-3:30 pm. The other "SI" I'm doing is for beginning pointe students, and it is 5 days from 4-7:30 in late June.
I'll be sure to keep you updated with my intensives and the beginning pointe experience. I'll be going to get fitted for shoes soon, so that should be exciting!
Thanks for the views and comments! If you have any questions/comments, feel free to comment on any post!
Edit: Guys, I have some bad news. Unfortunately, I can't do Jr. Corps after all. The cost is too much for my family, and I would have trouble organizing a ride because both my parents work. I will still be doing pointe, and I will definitely keep dancing though!
i just wanted to say thank you, you inspired me make my own blog http://boyinballet.blogspot.com/
ReplyDeleteThank you, that means a lot! I look forward to seeing more of your blog. I obviously don't know much of what it's like for boys in ballet, so it should be interesting.
DeleteI am so excited for you!
ReplyDeleteBy taking the pre-professional academy is it actually you POSSIBLY considering being professional or having the "skill" for a professional dancing life in the future? Or is it just a really fancy ballet academy?
I phrased the sentence weirdly, sorry. What I meant is that the academy isn't a pre-professional school for ballet at all. Some choreographers for modern have come from the academy, but it isn't like CPYB or a school like that. I wouldn't have the skill for a professional career.
DeleteAlso, I just started up a "teen ballet" blog recently. I was just wondering if you sort of want to be "sister" blogs or something along those lines. That would be so amazing!
ReplyDeletee.g. Two teen ballet blogs and I'm from New Zealand so it would be two "totally" different surroundings.
Please let me know what you think.

That's a neat idea! If it's ok, I can post a link to your blog in the sidebar.
DeleteSure!
DeleteHey, so you decided to get ads. Do you get any money for them? Will they help pay for your Jr. Company stuff? Congrats on everything by the way. I really want to start dance, but I do figure skating and they are both really demanding so........ But you are really lucky! Keep posting!
ReplyDeleteI did get the ads, and as of now, I've made exactly one penny. Haha, I will probably take them down if things don't pick up. Thanks so much!
DeleteFigure skating looks so hard! I wanted to try it out, but I can barely ice skate with my friends, haha. A girl in my dance class takes ballet to help her ice skating, I suppose it helps with balance and flexibility.
For figure skating you just have to get the hang of it. I really love it and would do it more if I could, but it's really expensive. That's one of the reasons I can't do dance/ballet. plus i have two younger siblings who do activities and my mom doesn't want to drive me. Also, for skating you have to be on the ice a lot to pick up things, it hasbeen kind of difficultfor me during the school year, but now that it is summer I will be able to skate Monay, Wednesday, Friday and maybe Saturday. (This is all after our ice show, though). I just want to still be able to hang out with friends and not have skating take up my whole life. It's a tough balance you know?
DeleteHaha forgot to put this in my reply, will you be able to do Jr. Corps next year? Maybe if the ads pick up or something you can save up?!
DeleteI do know what you mean about finding a balance between something you love to do and your social life. For that reason, I'm probably not going to join the Jr. Corps next year. As much as I would love to, I will be taking several AP classes, and between my 3 weekly classes, schoolwork, and friends I wouldn't have a second to spare.
DeleteWait I thought you couldn't do both the Jr. Company and pointe?
ReplyDeleteWhen I wrote this post I thought that I would be financially able to do the jr. company, but unfortunately I don't have enough in my band account to do it. I am still doing pointe though, so even though I'm a little sad, I still have something to look forward to.
DeleteOhh aw I'm so sorry :( pointe is totally worth it though!
DeleteHi!
ReplyDeleteI just wanted to let you know how inspiring and helpful your blog was to me. I've always wanted to do ballet, but when I was younger I had (undiagnosed) juvenile rheumatoid arthritis.
I've just found a studio near me with beginner classes for teens and I'm calling them tomorrow.
I hope you keep on blogging-- you are very well-spoken and it's great to know that someone was once in my situation (except I'm 16, which I think is how old you are now?).

Hello! Thank you so much, this really means the world to me. It's great that you are able to dance now, I hope you'll enjoy it as much as I am! Tell me how everything works out, ok?
DeleteI am 15 as of now, but I'll be 16 very soon, in July. I'm glad that I come across as well-spoken, I'm actually very shy and introverted in person.
Also, I'm not sure if Basil is your real name or just a username, but I really like it!
